This is a full list of sermons presented at UUCCSM since mid-1999. Links to sermon texts are included when made available by their authors. Audio recordings are also available for most sermons presented after September, 2007 by our staff ministers and others directly affiliated with our church (just click the speaker icon next to each sermon where it's available*). Audio from guest speakers is posted only when we have their permission to share it.

Youth Service

Join YRUU, the high school group, on March 14 as we perform our annual service for children and for every grownup’s inner child. We’ll explore life through the works of Dr. Seuss, using his stories, drawings, interpretation and song. You say you’ve never been to a YRUU service? “If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good,” said Dr. Seuss.

Emotional Honesty

Unitarian Universalist sermons had better be thoughtful, but if they're only thoughtful that doesn't make it either. What good preaching requires is a connection to the heart. A sermon on preaching and sharing from the soul as opposed to preaching from just the head.

From Hopelessness to Hope

February can be a rough time for many people the long nights and short days with a slant sun, the far-off promise of spring, and the cold all add up to increased depression among the general population. Indeed, despite being the shortest month, February has the highest suicide rate and shows no signs of giving up that distinction. Thoughts on suicide and how to prevent it, with notes on the writings of Thomas Szasz, Emily Dickinson, Richard Seiden, Li Ang, Erik Erikson, and others.
