Change and Resiliency
Rev. Rebecca Benefiel Bijur, speaker

In times of transition, how can we cultivate a sense of resiliency - the ability to bounce back from change - in ourselves, our children, and our congregation? Rev. Bijur is our candidate for settled minister. This is the second of two Sundays she will lead worship. Immediately following the 11 a.m. service, we will gather for a congregational meeting to vote on Rev. Bijur's call to ministry with our congregation. Don't miss this historic vote!

Why I Come to Church
Rev. Rebecca Benefiel Bijur, speaker

When we began our search process last year, Search Committee member Karl Lisovsky made a short movie about our congregation in which he asked members to talk about why they come to church. Some of our answers, and those of the Rev. Rebecca Benefiel Bijur, our candidate for settled minister, may surprise you. This is the first of two Sundays with services led by Rev. Bijur. Sourcing the Spirit
Rev. Paul W. Sawyer

The central concern of the religious life is how to source spirit. Spirit is not something vapored or ephemeral but literally is breath, the sine qua non of one's life, central to our material existence. We learn over time how to source it and ride it like the wind. Without it there is no significant religious life. Paul W. Sawyer was ordained by the California Universalist Convention and the Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Van Nuys in April 1959. Reverend Sawyer received his preaching license from the Massachusetts Universalist Convention in 1954...and has been preaching ever since, almost 56 years.
