Some UU congregations use a UU Affirmation for Children We are Unitarian Universalists, a people of open minds, loving hearts, and helping hands. This is a perfect example of being holistic, or as educators say, cognitive, with affect, with behavior; head, heart, and hands for a whole person.

This week, which begins with Palm Sunday, includes Passover, and ends with Easter, takes its meaning and its story from the Hebrew bible and the New Testament gospels. It gives us an opportunity to reflect on how the biblical tradition informs our contemporary faith.

Homelessness in our community has increased by nearly 30% this past year. We will look at what we can do to alleviate this tragic situation. The service culminates a week of interfaith activities to raise our awareness about homelessness on the Westside of Los Angeles. Music J. Karen Thomas, vocalist

Our Seventh Unitarian Universalist Principle affirms: “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” This Earth Day we are especially mindful of our interdependence in the midst of a global pandemic. Join us this Sunday as we meditate on this liberal religious principle and our responsibility to our beautiful planet home.

We honor this holiday with gratitude and grief as we count life's many blessings and we also remember the brutal legacy of colonialism in the United States. Let us offer thanksgiving together and reaffirm our commitments to justice and wholeness for Indigenous Peoples. I will share the traditional story of the first Thanxgrieving from my late spiritual teacher Ibrahim Baba.
