Discussion and Support for Persons with Disabilities
AAHS Freethinker Forum - 8/26 meeting is cancelled
Please note: the 8/26/18 meeting is POSTPONED
AAHS is an open group that meets for lively and engaging discussion on topics of politics, science, religion and philosophy. We also host occasional guest speakers, films, and outings. We are a home base for non-believers and questioners, but everyone is welcome. For many, atheism/agnosticism is a first step; Humanism is the thousand steps that come after.

CONVERSATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE DEVELOPMENTAL MINISTRY AT UUSM
Developmental Ministry is different than Settled Ministry or Interim Ministry. It is not simply holding a place until the ‘real’ minister arrives. Developmental Ministry is designed to identify, explore and address any unresolved conflicts or organizational issues that would inhibit or prevent successful new ministry from rooting here. It is designed to identify and point out to the congregation what ministers (and new members) are looking for so that the congregation can do its work in preparing to BE THE PLACE great leaders (including great members) want to be. Rev. Greg has spent a year observing and talking and pointing out things. This is an opportunity to have a congregational conversation about what he has come to understand and what he will be recommending happen in the next couple years to prepare for the kind of exciting future we want and observe. He has written a report which is encouraged reading (although all are welcome).
A light lunch will be provided.
Adult RE - Sacred Nature: The Emerging Theology of Religious Naturalism
Informed by new knowledge and inspired by ancient wisdom, Religious Naturalism weds scientific understanding of the universe with perceptions, values, and reverence usually reserved for more traditional religious positions. Join me for an introductory exploration of Religious Naturalism and its implications — for our movement and our world. What if we really did regard nature itself as sacred? How do concepts of god(s) and the divine fit into such a framework? Are scientific inquiry and spiritual inspiration inextricably linked? We will meet for three Saturdays in June. A little reading outside of our sessions will be required, and material will be provided.
Holiday Craft Fair
Memorial - Lloyd Drum
We invite you to gather with us to remember and celebrate the life of Lloyd Drum. Lloyd died this past fall and his wife and family needed to focus on handling his estate. During his life, he held some clear values and opinions. He worked for and expressed these when he got the chance, making quite an impression on the people who knew him – including many of us at UUSM.
Be with us as we share our connections to Lloyd. If you are not able to join us but would be willing to share a reflection, please send it to Rev. Greg at revgreg@uusm.org
