The Old Maid and The Thief

The UUCCSM music program presents The Old Maid and the Thief by Gian Carlo Menotti - a 1939 comedic American opera in one act that tells a twisted tale of manipulation and deceit. It is one of the earliest operas composed specifically for performance over the air. Menotti is probably best known for his classic Christmas opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors". This production will be performed in live radio opera format in the sanctuary, featuring singers Babatunde Akinboboye, Jennifer Miller, VanNessa Hulme, and Gabriel Paredes, and special guest announcer Alex Chadwick, public radio personality and former NPR host.  Foley and sound production will be provided by Richard Scher, Rima Snyder and Norb Gallery. Proceeds will go to the church music program. The suggested donation is $15, free parking is available at the UCLA lot on 16th below Arizona Ave.  Please come enjoy this musical evening, and bring a friend!
