Opening Hearts: An Embodied Practice Circle As we prayerfully consider the intersections of holidays, holy days, and seasonal happenings a theme often emerges. In this Sunday worship offering we encounter and engage the theme together by honoring and exploring the sacred teacher we all share - the human body.
Participants are invited to offer their unique embodied wisdom and Divine understandings as we grapple with practices and questions each week, weaving a co-creative “sermon” together by sharing the insights, awareness, and Love intelligence revealed to us, individually and collectively.
This is a radically inclusive space where all religious identities and mixities are welcomed and celebrated. Rev. Amelia teaches from the well of embodied practices she is in mindful, reflective, and ongoing relationship with. Primarily (though not exclusively) these stem from the Bhakti, Sufi, and Christian traditions where her religious identity, practice life, and leadership is rooted.

Today, 40% of our offering will go to Gender Justice. Gender Justice addresses the causes and
consequences of gender inequality, regionally and nationally. While GJ believe gender inequality
hurts everyone, it focuses on the needs of individuals, such as low-income and immigrant workers,
who have traditionally had the least access to justice. In each program area, Gender Justice
addresses cognitive bias – the subtle but pervasive ways that stereotypes affect our perceptions,
decisions, and preferences – as a root cause of inequality. It counteracts the most harmful
consequences of inequality by dismantling the gender-based barriers that prevent full participation
in women in our economy and our society. Please give what you can to help out those struggling in
our larger community. Thank you!

40% of our offering this week will go to Homeless Street Survival Project . This is a project that has
come out of our own Faith In Action efforts for a compassionate response to the overwhelming
growth in the homeless population. As the divide between the rich and poor increase, the statistics
become staggering: In L.A. County there are 58,000 homeless (up 23%). The vast majority are not
receiving support from shelters. It means roughly 1 out every 100 persons is living on the streets.
The Homeless Street Survival Project set a goal of handing out 100 survival kits including backpacks
with blankets, towels, socks, soap, toothpaste and other day to day essentials that promote survival,
self care, health, and dignity. Please help us extend care to as many people as possible. We will now
receive this morning’s offering.
