As a young boy, I grew up in a family with a complicated and confusing relationship to money. We didn't have any. My siblings and I watched as our parents worked multiple jobs to help us get by. But that just cost us in different ways. Money – and conversations about it – brought up feelings of tension, anxiety, despair, and even anger. But there was one moment that cut through everything and spoke volumes about what we felt was missing: our value, our worth, and our future. On our Stewardship Kickoff we will talk about the antidote to shame and guilt regarding money. And we’ll have a New Member Ceremony.

D4$ - Poker with the Pastor
The second offering of Poker with the Pastor is happening on Saturday May 25th, 6:30 in Forbes Hall. Last year we had over 30 people vying for the God or Goddess of the felt. Sarah Robson wound up with ultimate bragging rights and will be there to defend her title. The game is no-limit Texas Hold-‘em and the entry fee is $25 (all proceeds go to D4$ fundraising for UUCCSM. There are re-buys available until the final 8 players. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Come one, come all. Contact Rev. Greg or show up at 6:30 on May 25.

Safe Sitter® teaches young babysitters how to handle crises and how to nurture and guide young child. Safe Sitter® babysitters help children stay safe and sound while their parents are away. In the process, these 11 to 18-year-olds emerge as more confident, responsible and compassionate teens and adults.
