Honoring Thanksgiving/Thanxgrieving
We honor this holiday with gratitude and grief as we count life's many blessings and we also remember the brutal legacy of colonialism in the United States. Let us offer thanksgiving together and reaffirm our commitments to justice and wholeness for Indigenous Peoples. I will share the traditional story of the first Thanxgrieving from my late spiritual teacher Ibrahim Baba.
The Danger of a Single Story
"Any one person’s story can change the way we think — and in changing the way enough people think, it can change our world. But what of the stories that cannot be told by one person alone? What of the stories that touch many people, all of whom have different perspectives and points of view?" -- Stephen Bradley

Nature Journaling with Dorothy Steinicke - Zoom/Online
Nature Journaling on Pumpkins, Squash and Gourds
November 21, 2:30pm-4pm
Embrace the season of the harvest by spending some time learning about and journaling on pumpkins, squash and gourds. These are some of the oldest known domesticated plants and they also have fascinating shapes. Please come to our Zoom journaling session with paper, pencil and a member of this plant family that includes pumpkins, squash, gourds and melons.
While we normally meet on the final Sunday of the month, this month we will meet on November 21 so as not to intrude into Thanksgiving weekend.
This session will be facilitated by Dorothy Steinicke, a member of UUSM and a lifelong lover of nature and the outdoors. Dorothy has spent years encouraging people to experience the natural world.
