Beyond Categorical Thinking This UUA-sponsored program is designed to promote inclusive thinking and help prevent unfair discrimination in the search process for a new minister. UUA-trained facilitators Aguilar and Hillgartner will speak about how thinking categorically about people sometimes interferes with choosing the best candidate. |

Bird by Bird, Stone by Stone, Hand in Hand This country was built within a cultural paradigm of grit and determination and a will to survive. It is a very useful motif in a frontier wilderness environment. But what happens when the plains you settled no longer have wild animals but present challenges of skyscrapers, traffic jams, housing and food distribution issues? How do we change our motif from “dog eat dog” to communal cooperation? We encourage you to bring a friend to worship as we observe Membership Sunday. |

Blessing of the Animals
"Our 7th Unitarian Universalist Principle is: “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” This service we will celebrate our animal companions with a special service of blessing as we consider our roles in the interdependent web of life. This will be a multigenerational service and you are invited to bring your animal companions to the service with you this morning.
Please bring your pet in the safest way possible -- for them to feel safe as well as for the other animals around them. If coming to church is not your pet's idea of comfort and reassurance, bring a toy they like to play with and a picture of them so that they can be blessed in the same way they provide a blessing to you." Rev. Jeremiah Kalendae Cassie Winters

Blessing of the Animals
In this special intergenerational service we will celebrate the joy our animal companions bring to our lives and affirm our 7th Principle, "respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." Well-behaved pets accustomed to sharing space with other animals and many new people, as well as animal companions comfortable in cages, are welcome to attend worship that morning. You can also bring a photo or other memento of your animal, or of a pet who has passed away.

Blessing of the Animals
Join Rev. Rebecca and Kathleen Hogue for this all-ages and all-creatures celebration of the animals in our lives. If your gentle pet is comfortable meeting lots of new people, please bring them along. We are also glad to display photos of pets that would not enjoy the service, and/or memorial pictures of animal companions who have died.

Blessing of the Animals (Online Service)![]()
We gather on the Feast of Francis of Assisi — patron saint of animals and the environment in the Christian tradition — to celebrate and digitally bless our non-human animal companions and the natural world. Our Seventh UU Principle is “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” And our Six Sources affirm and promote many ways that this world is so much more than just the humans in it.
