Our Beloved Dead (Intergenerational Online Service)

Note:  Setting our clocks back as Daylight Savings ends

All Hallows and Día de los Muertos arrives in this season of spirits. All around the globe, this is a time for honoring our ancestors and communing with our beloved dead. Many traditions teach this period is when the veil separating worlds is at its thinnest. Join us for this special service as we explore this convergence of holidays and the meaning of death in the midst of life.

As we prepare to create our annual ofrenda (offering altar) for “Our Beloved Dead” service, you are invited to bring pictures, mementos, marigold flowers, fruit, or other offerings to be placed on the ofrenda in the sanctuary. To include items in the service, you can drop them off on Thursday, October 29, from 10 am to 4 pm. You may want to call ahead to let the church staff know you’re coming to drop the items off. Please be sure to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and label anything you would like to pick up next week.  Tel.310-829-5436 ext. 102 or 101.

Our Christian Heritage

Unitarian Universalism is rooted in Christianity. Our predecessors embraced some Christian values and rejected others, leaving us a heritage that remains relevant even today.

This service will include our annual bridging ceremony and volunteer recognition.Come help us celebrate and recommit to Religious Education at UUCCSM"

One service at 10 am...then please stay to join in our 93rd Annual Congregational Meeting.
Our Democracy and Bylaws

Our congregation is a democratic institution, and how we practice democracy as a beloved community is defined by our bylaws, covenants, and liberal religious values. Our Bylaws Refresh Task Force worked diligently to draft proposed bylaws for consideration at the next Special Meeting of the Congregation. Come learn more about this important developmental ministry work and our liberal religious commitment to democracy.
Our Divine Covenants

We live in a world of covenants—both temporal and divine. Some are not honored, while others stand the great test of time. These sacred agreements are central to liberal religious identity and the promises we make to each other.  How might covenant help us to navigate a world of so much brokenness and invite new possibilities for restoration, healing, and wholeness?
