What’s happening at UUSM on this Sunday and for the Summer?
THE TIMES, THEY ARE A-CHANGIN’!

• Our UUSantaMonica Facebook page, our UUSantaMonica YouTube channel, and uusm.org will provide a Sunday Worship livestream at 10 to 11 am, as has been done for the past 15 months, but it will be a stream of the recorded UUA General Assembly Sunday Worship Service from the First Universalist Church of Minnesota. See our June 2021 Worship Services article and the uua.org/ga website for more information.

• The worship service will be followed by the regular UUSM Zoom Coffee Hour at 11 am to 12 noon. The link can be found in our Facebook UUSM Group (you must be a member of the group) or email ZoomCoffee@uusm.org.

• The Zoom Coffee Hour will be followed at 12 noon to 2 pm by a Facebook, YouTube, and uusm.org livestream of the UUSM Annual Church Meeting. Agenda highlights —

Registration for Camp de Benneville is Open!
"THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING..." -JOHN MUIR

After a year’s hiatus, UU Santa Monica’s family camp is back! UUSM will host its fall weekend at Camp de Benneville Pines on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 17, 18, and 19, 2021. For all campers’ safety, COVID precautions will be in place. We have a unique advantage in that our church is a member congregation of the Pacific Southwest District that owns Camp de Benneville. The mid-September weekend that has been our private slice of time will continue to flourish as a moment for people to slow down, unplug, and spend some time together in the woods.

 

Director Janet James tells us that the Camp Board has decided that “only people who have been vaccinated will be allowed to come up to camp this fall…. We will hold our numbers to 66.” So register early! Further, “proof of vaccination has to be into camp one week prior to arrival.” This will mean that “a person will have to have their final shot with enough lead time to make it to camp and be safe.”

 

Regarding families with kids under 12, Camp Director Janet reluctantly says thWorshiping in the Pinesat “if vaccines become available this summer for younger children, then those children who are vaccinated are welcome to attend camp. Hard to predict anything right now.”
