Service Notes
Thanks to Las Colibri, our guest musicians this morning. Los Colibri, or “The Hummingbirds” have a
passion for music, beauty and girl power! These women form a one-of-a-kind experience to witness as
they combine the all-string instrumentation of the early 20th century mariachi tradition with the
colorful, feminine costumes of the cinematic divas of the 1940’s and 50’s. After years of achieving
success individually as instrumentalists and vocalists, these women have come together to create
their own blend of vocal harmonies, unique arrangements, and interpretation of traditional sones,
huapangos and rancheras.
This month, 60% of our offering will go to benefit the Camp DeBenneville Pines. DeBenneville Pines is
a UU camp in the San Bernardino National Forest, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles. Since 1962,
Unitarian Universalists have gathered in the pines to experience the wonder of the natural world
while deepening their connections to their faith and one another. This year the all-church camp
weekend will be September 18-20, and registration is now open. Please register with our Camp Dean,
Jacki Weber. As with all church programs, if the registration fee is a barrier to your participation,
please let Jacki or the minister know, as scholarships are available, jacki.weber@gmail.com.
