Dia de los Muertos

We will gather to honor the Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, a spiritual and cultural holiday informed by the traditions of Mexico as well as those of Christianity and indigenous religions of the Americas. At this time of year, as the seasons change and the year turns, it is right that we, too, turn toward one another to remember those who have died, and to share our stories of love and loss. Please bring a picture of a departed loved one to share.

Dia de Los Muertos
Catherine Farmer Loya and Vilma Ortiz lead our annual multigenerational services of loss and remembrance.
Please bring a photo of a loved one whom you have lost to share on our altar; if you would like it returned, please put your name and contact information on the back, or remember to take it with you after the service.

Also:  “Remembrance Vespers” — a combined effort between us and First Church — begins at 6 pm in our Sanctuary

Dia de los Muertos
The Adult Choir will sing at 9am and 11am for our intergenerational services.
Día de los Muertos service

Grief is an unavoidable life experience, but its many facets allow for celebration and transformation as well as for sorrow. The service will explore grief as a creative experience. You are invited to bring a remembrance or photo for our Día de los Muertos altar if you have lost someone in the past year. Music Ginger Murphy, cellist
