Reflections on UU District Assembly
RATED 10 OUT OF 10 BY ROBIN

When asked to reflect on the experience Robin stated: “The highlight for me was the keynote speaker, Donald Milton, III. He suggested some truly new and innovative ways to do worship and music. He had me laughing and in tears, and I used what he taught me the very next day on Sunday where we incorporated a responsive reading that included music. Honestly, it was worth going just for his address. However, I also connected with DREs, UUA staff, and other ministers that I can now call on if I am ever in need of support, resources or advice. In Millennial speak, 10/10 would recommend DA (or GA in a few weeks….)!”
The presenter also encouraged churches to reach out in support of parents, to perhaps host a monthly ‘parent’s lounge’ with special presentations on issues facing parents with childcare provided.

Become a Chalice Lighter
Chalice Lighters is a program of giving sponsored by our Pacific Southwest District. It fits right into our Generous Congregation philosophy, providing us an opportunity to help others with small contributions from many people – and then to receive that assistance ourselves from the generous members of other congregations.
Please join us to celebrate the contributions Rev. Greg has made to UUSM in helping us become better together over the past two years! We will be enjoying each other's company as well as Lorenzo's famous southern BBQ after service, and we'll be putting together a well-wish jar for Rev. Greg to which you can add a sentiment for him.
If you'd like to participate, we'd like your RSVP so that we don't over-purchase.
The menu is Southern BBQ (Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork) with coleslaw, potato salad, dessert, and drinks. We'll have veggie burgers for vegetarians.
If you would like, you may donate to support the BBQ, volunteer for setup, cleanup, serving, or activities. Just indicate in your RSVP and Janine deZarn will follow up with further instructions.
Proceeds from donations will be split among all departing staff members (Rev Greg, Kathleen, and Robin) to help with moving expenses. Your generosity is appreciated.
